Mary McDonnell

 

Mary Eileen McDonnell (born April 28 1952) is an American film, stage, and TV actress. Her parts in Dances with Wolves, Stands With A Fist and Passion Fish saw her receive Academy Award nominations. McDonnell is most famous for her performances as First Lady Marilyn Whitmore in Independence Day and President Laura Roslin on Battlestar Galactica. McDonnell was a character in Captain Sharon Raydor on seasons 5-7 of TNT's show The Closer. She also played in Major Crimes, the spin-off series of TNT's network, as Commander Sharon Raydor.
